Sherilyn Kaye Edwards: Competent Writer

Sherilyn Kaye Edwards knows full well that the center of a successful and vibrant community is a strong educational structure. Many communities that are classified as “at risk” or are typically low income are characterized by weak educational systems. The lack of education leads to a lack of discipline and drive within community members, and perpetuates the problems facing the community.

As an active member of her community, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards constantly looks for ways to improve the futures of the children in the community. The hard work that Sherilyn Kaye Edwards invests into improving the community is clearly seen when her various activities are observed.

Sherilyn Kaye Edwards believes that to reach at risk children, it is best to start early. Because of this belief, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards works as a pre-kindergarten teacher at a local, federally funded, school for at risk children. As a teacher at this school, Sherilyn Kaye Edwards faces the difficult task of reaching children from low income families, many of whom are not overly excited about being in the classroom. Sherilyn Kaye Edwards faces the additional challenge of teaching in classrooms where the students primarily speak English as a second language. These barriers and hurdles are all in a day’s work for Sherilyn Kaye Edwards, who believes that the possibility of reaching the kids is more than enough reason to persevere.

In Sherilyn Kaye Edwards’s mind, reaching the children early and instilling a love of learning in them while they are still in pre-kindergarten will provide them with solid footing for future academic endeavors. When children look back on their time with Sherilyn Kaye Edwards, she hopes that they will remember the lessons there fondly. Sherilyn Kaye Edwards stands firm in her desire to see children truly love learning by the time they leave her classroom.
